Narrative paragraphs simply tell a

story or relay a sequence of events. Generally, these events

are told in chronological order, that is the order in which they happened. However, a narrative paragraph most often tells a story in order to illustrate or demonstrate a point. Because of this, developing a strong topic sentence is important.

Слайд 4 Guidelines of a Narrative Paragraph
There are a few things to

think about when getting ready to write narrative paragraphs or

essays:

Know the information well.
Know the order in which things happened
Think of your audience: does anyone there need extra information to understand part of your story?
Identify your characters well
Explain the setting/ place where things were happening. Good descriptions add a lot of life to your narrative!
What is the MORAL OF THIS STORY? What lesson did you learn from it?
Make your sentences as interesting as possible
Organize all of this information in a way to show the beginning, the middle and the end of the story.

story is a real love tragedy happened in the 16th

century in presently Kampong Cham province. (3) It is widely taught in high school.(4) The story begins when Tum and Teav fall in love at their first sight. (7) Then, Teav is selected as a concubine and sent to the capital. (8) The king admires her so much, but with mercy he offers Tum and Teav a wedding. (9) As dissatisfaction grows, Teav’s mum rearranges the marriage with the previous guy. (10) Teav is deceived and comes back home. (11) With worry, Tum follows her. (12) Tum arrival at Teav’s wedding marks end of the story. (13) Tum is caught and executed. (14) Teav, with love for her husband, commits suicide. of the topic. Description translates your experience of a person,

place, or thing into words, often by appealing to the physical senses.

The subway is an

assault on your senses. You walk down the steep, smelly

steps on the subway platform. On the far right wall, a broken clock show that the time is four-thirty. You wonder how long it has been broken. A mother and her crying child are standing to your left. She is trying to clean dried chocolate syrup off the young child’s face. Farther to the left, two old men are arguing about the most recent tax increase. You hear a little noise and see some paper trash roll by like a soccer ball. The most interesting thing you see while you are waiting for your subway train is a poster. It reads “Come to Jamaica.” Deep blue skies, a lone palm tree, and sapphire waters call you to this exotic faraway place.

Слайд 10Persuasive paragraphs
Persuasive paragraphs are used to share an opinion about

a particular subject. Writers of persuasive paragraphs try to convince

readers to agree with the opinions in the paragraphs and, sometimes, to take action. A persuasive paragraph often uses order of importance.

Homework is an important

part of the learning process in middle school. One reason

is that homework gives students additional practice of skills covered in class. Middle school classes are too short to teach a new concept and practice it sufficiently for students to master. Students need both guided practice in class and independent practice at home. Another reason for homework is that it provides time to complete longer assignments. For example, the ideal composition process allows time for students to think and to reflect on their ideas, as well as time to revise and to proofread their writing. Also, reports and special projects often require research that can not always be done at school. In addition, since all students do not work at the same speed, giving students time at home to finish work keeps them from falling behind. Finally, the most important reason for homework is that it ensures review. New material and old material are practiced in daily assignments. Students who do their homework daily are prepared for tests and make better grades. In conclusion, not only is homework essential to mastering new skills and maintaining previously learned skills, but it also guarantees constant review and provides time for longer assignments, as well as additional time for students who need it. Students, do your daily homework, make better grades, and learn more!

According to The American

Heritage Dictionary, gossip is a “trivial rumor of a personal

nature,” but this definition makes gossip sound harmless. At first, gossip might not seem so bad. One person tells a second person something about someone, and that second person tells a third person, and so on. The information passes from person to person. However, gossip is much more than just information and rumor. As the rumor continues, it grows and changes, People do not know all the facts, so they add information. As the gossip goes from one person to another, the damage continues, and the person who is the subject of the gossip can’t do anything to answer or protect himself or herself. Because the potential damage may range from hurt feelings to a lost career, gossip is much worse than simply a “trivial rumor.”

Слайд 14Expository paragraph
Expository paragraphs are used for explanation. They can list

facts, give directions, or explain ideas. Writers also use expository

paragraphs to define terms, make comparisons, and show cause and effect. Since information in expository writing can usually be put into categories, it often uses logical order.

Out of all the different

sports that are played in our country, basketball is the

best sport for kids to play. For one thing, basketball is safer to play than a lot of other sports. In basketball, there isn't as much physical contact with other players as there is in other sports games such as football or hockey. If there is less physical contact between players, chances are there will be fewer injuries caused from playing. Another factor that makes basketball a better sport for kids to play is the fact that basketball can be played just about anywhere, unlike football, baseball, or hockey. In basketball, all that is needed to play is solid ground, a hoop, and a basketball, whereas the other sports require large fields that aren't always easily accessible to all kids. If kids have better access to what is needed for a sport, they are more likely to have more opportunties to play the sport and increase their skills in the game. If you are a kid, or you have a kid of your own, you should really consider basketball as your number one option for a great sport to play.

If

we want to change our world, we need to change

ourselves first. First, we have to be a role model. Everyone can affect other people, so what we do will influence others.People believe when they see, not just only hear. We have to prove that what we do is good or right so that they will follow. To be an example, if we want others smile at you, we may need to smile first. Secondly, we have direct control over ourselves only. Things happen to us are partly because we let them; external things influence us less than ourselves. If we change how we think, we will change how we feel and what actions to take. If we perform poorly in our study, we can’t blame the government, school, and teachers because blaming others is denying the reality. If we change by studying hard, the teachers will try more and the school will provide more services, too. Last, we will need to add values to ourselves. If we change the things around without changing ourselves, we will still be ourselves, the same person. We will still have the flaws, anger, negativity, self-sabotaging tendencies, etc. All in all, we should start from ourselves.

Слайд 17 Wat Phnom is an interesting place. It

is a one of the perfect places. There is a

big stupa, surrounded by trees and green grass, built on a hill. On top of the hill, there is a pagoda, museum, and few monasteries. The trees offer home to many monkeys and birds. There are people visiting, praying, or relaxing. It is a peaceful place. The sound of wind, people praying and talking, and bird singing is pleasing. As the wind blow, it brings us mixed smell of perfume, flowers, and incense where people have placed for praying. The air is also fresh. It is a relaxing place which can bring away our stress and tiredness. You should visit there some day.

Слайд 18 A four cylinder engine is much

better than a six cylinder engine for many reasons. The

four cylinder engine is designed to work at both high and low revolutions, which allows for both fuel economy and for high torque power. This is particularly useful for the majority of drivers who need a cheap, reliable engine to haul a small to average amount of cargo in and around city settings. The four cylinder engine can also produce top speeds that most six cylinders cannot match. The Porche 911 four cylinder engine is the fastest production car available to the consumer. The four cylinder engine is the most popular engine size in the world and although it may not have the low end power of a six cylinder, it does offer the average driver with more than enough power for their driving needs.

Слайд 19 My most embarrassing moment happened when

I was working in a Mexican restaurant. I was a

hostess working on a busy Friday night. As usual, I was wearing a blouse and a long Mexican skirt. While I was taking some menus to a table, one of the waiters accidentally stepped on the hem of my skirt. I didn’t even feel it fall off, and I walked through the whole dining room in my slip! Almost every customer in the restaurant saw me without my skirt on!
