They were expert metal workers and made iron

tools, weapons, helmets and armours. With bronze and gold they

created coins, mirrors, ornaments, small statues and beautiful jewellery. They often decorated their work with birds, animals, and interlacing abstract patterns, which are still popular.

Romans invaded Britain twice: in B.C. 55, and in

Britain became part of the Roman Empire and was

called Britannia, after the name of one of the Celtic tribes (Britons).
