Слайд 2Moskovskaya Street is a street in Penza located in the
historical, administrative and commercial center of the city. It passes
from the Soviet Square to Zheleznodorozhnaya Street.
Слайд 3Moscow street is one of the oldest streets of Penza,
it appeared almost simultaneously with the appearance of the city
in the middle of the XVII century. The street started from the northern wall of the city fortress and descended down the hill through the posad. Initially, the street was called Spasskaya, since it began from the Spasskaya fortress tower, named after the nearby church. In connection with the growth of the urban suburb, where service people settled, the street became known as Bolshaya Posad. In the 18th century, it became the main street of Penza and they began to call it Moscow, as along this street through the Moscow outpost, which was located at the place where the railway crossing at the junction of Karakozov, Ogorodnaya and Proletarskaya streets now ran, went to Moscow
Слайд 4Moscow Street has always been the center of urban commerce
and with the passage of time this characteristic specialization of
it constantly deepened. It was on the Moscow Penza merchants began to build the first two-story houses in Penza. By 1863, Moskovskaya Street was completely paved. In 1905, the street was illuminated with electric lanterns. In the piedmont part of Moscow Street crossed the Market Square, forming a continuous trading rows. On this Moscow line of the Market Square, the Peter and Paul Church, decorated with blue tiles, was built on the money of the merchants (in the place of the church there is a residential building). On the same line, meat and fish passages were rebuilt, which became a true decoration of the city and have survived to the present.
Слайд 5After the Syzrano-Vyazemskaya railway was laid, Moskovskaya street ceased to
serve as the main entrance to the city, since in
its northern part it was divided by a railway line. This contributed to the development of the lower part of the street by the rich merchants, who built prestigious apartment houses and mansions. By the beginning of the 20th century, almost every house housed a shop or other commercial enterprise: a hotel, a restaurant, a photo studio, a coffee shop, a pharmacy, etc.

was opened on the Market Square of Penza (in the
lower part of Moscow Street). Emperor Alexander II. Until 2008, the Penza Regional Drama Theater named after A. Lunacharsky played its performances on its stage.
Слайд 7In 1919, Moskovskaya Street was renamed International, and in 1937
the former name Moscow was returned to it. In 1929,
A.V. Lunacharsky wrote about this street: "Long, almost from the former Nevsky Prospect, a street shaped like a saddle."
Слайд 8In 1954, a monument to VG Belinsky was opened in
the square opposite the theater, in 1958 the regional administration
building was built on the site of the Bazar Square and the administrative center of the city moved here, in 1960 the Russia Hotel, in 1978 the fountain of light and music. At the end of the 20th century, a section of Moscow Street from Kuraev Street to Bakunin Street became a pedestrian zone. This made it possible to call the street "Penza Arbat." The newspaper “Moskovskaya Street” is also published here.
Слайд 9As a result of the fire that occurred on January
2, 2008, the building of the drama theater burned to
the ground, but already on March 5, 2010 the first spectators were accepted by the new building of the theater, which was erected in place of the former one.
