The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is an international non-governmental organization founded on April 29, 1961, and is working on issues regarding the conservation, research and restoration of the environment.

29, 1961, and is working on issues regarding the conservation, research and restoration of
the environment.
Слайд 3It is the world's largest conservation organization with over 5 million supporters
worldwide, working in more than 100 countries, supporting around 1,300 conservation
and environmental projects. One of them is called «Earth Hour».
Слайд 4Panda symbol The giant panda has become the symbol of WWF. WWF's Giant
Panda logo originated from a panda named Chi Chi that had been transferred
from Beijing Zoo to London Zoo in 1958. It was ideal to serve the organisation's need for a strong recognisable symbol that would overcome all language barriers.
Слайд 5The WWF's mission is "to stop the degradation of the
planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which
humans live in harmony with nature."
Слайд 6Much of this work focuses on the conservation of three biomes that
contain most of the world's biodiversity: oceans and coasts, forests, and freshwater ecosystems.

Russia began in 1988, and in 1994 the Russian representation
of WWF was opened.

of biological diversity of Russian forests on the basis of
transition to sustainable forest management and conservation.

standing on the verge of extinction: the Far Eastern leopard,
