The ravens' wing feathers are kept short so they can`t fly away. This is because a legend says that if the ravens leave the Tower, the Tower and the Kingdom will fall.

You can see Beefeatersin the Tower. You can’t miss them
with their black and red uniforms.. Their nickname, Beefeaters, is
believed to have originated from them being allowed to eat as much beef as they wanted from the king’s table.
