resurrection of Christ from the dead, following the crucifixion. According to the New Testament, once a lady named Mary Magdalene visited the tomb where Jesus was buried and found it empty. An angel visited and told her that Jesus has risen. Since that time Easter is celebrated worldwide.

gaiety. On this day churches are decorated with flowers, lovely roses and enchanting lilies. Lily symbolizes new life while rose symbolizes undying love and they are linked with the Easter celebrations. People exchange Easter Lily which is a symbol of a revive.

of painted and decorated Easter eggs was first recorded in the 13th

century. The church prohibited the eating of eggs during Holy Week, but chickens continued to lay eggs during that week, and the notion of specially identifying those as “Holy Week” eggs brought about their decoration. The egg itself became a symbol of the Resurrection. Just as Jesus rose from the tomb, the egg symbolizes new life emerging from the eggshell.
