St. Petersburg was the capital of the Russian Empire. It

was the place, where indicative events occurred. Monuments of this city became an integral part of unique atmosphere of
St. Petersburg. Those were monuments which brought fame to the city all over the world.

wonderful monuments with their own eyes. The majestic creations keep

memory about famous participants of the city and give special charm to St. Petersburg.

monument is located at the Square of Arts. The authors

were a sculptor Mikhail Anikushin and an architect Vasily Petrov. A ceremonial laying of the foundation stone of the monument was made on the 150th anniversary of poet’s birthday.

the celebration of the 250th anniversary of Leningrad. Pushkin's image created by Anikushin is very spiritual and romantic.

In 1958 the author of Alexander Pushkin monument was awarded by Lenin Prize for great achievements on literature, science and art.

on the Senate Square. The monument received its name thanks to the famous Alexander Pushkin poem of the same name. The equestrian statue of Peter the Great was made by a sculptor Etienne Falconet in 1768 — 1770 to the order of the Russian Empress Catherine II.

one of the alleys of the Summer Garden in 1855. This monument is the second of the monuments of Russian writers in Russia. A monument was made by sculptor-animalist Baron P.K. Clodt.

with figures of animals-heroes of Krylov’s Fables. Real animals were prototypes of these figures. The animals had been kept on a leash or without freedom restriction for four years. The monument was made of bronze. 36 Fables of Krylov are represented on the pedestal of the monument.

The idea of the monument installing originated in 1860. It was 100 later than the reign of Catherine II had begun. The author of the monument was an artist M. Mikeshin.

Aivazovsky was a famous Russian seascape painter as well as

a collector and Maecenas. A monument to the great artist was unveiled in Kronstadt in September, 2007. You can see this monument on the Makarovskaya promenade close to the sea fortress.

190th anniversary of Aivazovsky’s birthday. This is the first monument

to Aivazovsky which was opened in Russia. The sculptor of the monument is a laureate of the State Prize honored artist of Russia Vladimir Gorevoy.

alleys of Mikhailovsky Garden, you are sure to notice the

bust erected there in 1959. This is a monument to Fedot Shubin a remarkable Russian sculptor of the 18th century. The monument was made by A.Sinaysky.

the rich heritage of Shubin. They are numerous sculptural portraits, which win the hearts of the audience of its realism. The bust of the famous sculptor has installed on the high cylindrical pedestal of pink granite executed by the project of an architect Speransky.
