Moscow is the capital city and the most populous federal subject of Russia. The city is a major political, economic, cultural and scientific center in Russia and in Eastern Europe.

The flag of Moscow, in the Russian Federation,
is a dark red banner of arms charged as the
arms of the city in the centre. It displays Saint George wearing armor and a blue cape with a golden lance in his right hand riding on a silver horse. He is shown stabbing a dragon with the lance.

The coat of arms of Moscow depicts a
horseman with a spear in his hand slaying a basilisk
and is identified with Saint George and the Dragon. The heraldic emblem of Moscow has been an integral part of the coat of arms of Russia since the 16th century.

Federal District of European Russia making it the world's most
populated inland city. The city is well known for its unique architecture which consists of many different historic buildings such as Saint Basil's Cathedral with its brightly colored domes.

Moscow was founded in about 1156 by
Prince Yuri Dolgorukiy of Rostov, who ordered the construction of
a wooden wall, the Kremlin, to surround the city.

world. Moscow is also the heart of the Russian performing
arts, including ballet and film. There are 93 theaters, 132 cinemas and 24 concert halls in Moscow. Among Moscow’s many theaters and ballet studios is the Bolshoi Theatre and the Malyi Theatre as well as Vakhtangov Theatre and Moscow Art Theatre.
