— German physician, physiologist and psychologist. Mostly known as the founder of experimental psychology. Less well known as a major figure in social psychology, however, the last years of life of Wundt were marked by the psychology of peoples , which he understood as the study of the social basis of higher mental activity.

Wundt tried to

understand the human mind by studying the component parts of

human consciousness, as well as in the study of complex chemical substances break it into its constituent elements. Thus, Wundt was represented psychology is a science, similar to physics and chemistry, in which consciousness is a set of shared and identifiable parts. These ideas of Wundt were developed by Edward Titchener, the former at one time a student of Wundt. Titchener has developed a system of Wundt, his ideas formed the basis of the concept of structuralism in psychology. Structuralism was unable to compete in the Anglo-American scientific community with more natural for American science functionalism, created based on the ideas of William James, and is currently distributed mainly in European science.
