Слайд 8Nowadays, the problem of choosing friends is very important and
leads to heated arguments. Some parents think they should influence
their children`s choice. However, children are against it. There are both advantages and disadvantages of such a solution.
On the one hand, there is no doubt that parents worry about their children. Firstly, they want their children to have friends they can always trust, seek comfort and support from. Secondly, they think that they have more experience in relationships than their children do so they know better how to choose friends. What is more, parents are sure that they can prevent children from had influence of the street and from getting into trouble.
On the other hand, it goes without saying that children should choose their friends themselves. To start with, if they rely on their parents, they will never develop the skill of making good relationship. Moreover, parents might pick people you may not like, and these relationships will not last long. Last of all, teenagers should be given the right to make their own choice, get life experience by their own mistakes.
To sum up, this question has its pros and cons. I think the best way for both children and their parents is to talk. It is more, effective to discuss things than to put pressure on children.
