same action. Compare the sentences and name the difference:
My dad

opened the window.

The subject in the sentence is active

The window was opened by my dad.

The subject in the sentence is not active, it is passive

which is used in English very often

focus is on the action. It is not important who

or what is performing the action.

Example: The vase was broken.
The focus here is on the fact that the vase was broken. We do not know,however,who broke it.
