well-known teachers Bronisława, née Boguska, and Władysław Skłodowski
Maria graduated from the underground women's higher rates «Flying University». In 1894, in the house of the Polish emigre physicist Marie Curie met Pierre Curie.
In 1895, Pierre and Marie married.
Curie died on July 4, 1934 of leukemia in a small town hospital Sansellmoza in the French Alps.

After Becquerel discovered radioactivity effect Curie encourages her husband to

do research in this direction. They first worked in the

institute's storeroom, and later in the shed in Paris.
From 1898 to 1902 the Curies processed eight tonnes of uraninite
Once Curie discovered that their faction dedicated light. Spectral analysis showed that the spectrum contains emission lines of the unknown until the element, which was named radium spouses. They managed to allocate one-hundredth of a gram of the new substance. Also in 1898 was discovered polonium - the element named in honor of Poland, the birthplace of Marie Curie.
After the tragic death of her husband in 1906, Marie Curie inherited his chair at the University of Paris and head went into work.
In 1910, she managed in collaboration with Andre Debierne distinguish pure metallic radium and its compounds are not as before. Thus was completed the 12-year cycle of studies in which it was conclusively proved that radium is a separate chemical elements.

the American Philosophical Society (1921)
She was a member of 85 scientific societies around the world, including the French Academy of Medicine, has received 20 honorary degrees.
From 1911 until her death Sklodowska-Curie took part in the prestigious Solvay Congress in Physics, for 12 years has been an employee of the International Commission on Intellectual Cooperation of the League of Nations.
