Queen than without tea.

Слайд 3The history of tea
The British Tea Tradition has its
own history. There are some interesting facts in it.
Firstly in Europe tea was used as a medicine. In 1660 the English began to think more about their health. Out-of-door games, walking out and having exotic and tasteful drink from China became very popular.
Слайд 4200 years ago most people only ate two meals: a
large breakfast late in the morning and a late dinner
around 8 or 9 o’clock in the evening. Anna Maria, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, is credited with inventing afternoon tea in 1841.She would become hungry during the afternoon, in the long hours between breakfast and dinner. She began asking her servants to bring her some sweets and a cup of tea to ward away her hunger. Eventually she began sharing this custom with her friends, and afternoon tea soon became popular among the aristocratic class.
Afternoon Tea Tradition
Слайд 6By the 1860s the tradition of afternoon tea had become
widespread.
Today ,people continue this tradition and tea is served with
a light meal of sandwiches , biscuits , cream cakes or fruit cake.
"There are few hours in life
more agreeable than the hour
dedicated to the ceremony
known as afternoon tea."
Henry James
Слайд 7 Tea breaks are another tradition that
have become a part of daily life. In the past
,when workers began their day at about 6 am , they took a break in the morning at around 11 am to drink tea and have a light snack .Today many people call this “ elevenses ” and have a cup of tea and a biscuit.
Слайд 9 What the English think of tea.
The English
know how to make tea and what it does for
you.
If you are hot, tea will cool you off ,and if you are cold , it will warm you up.
If you take it in the middle of the morning , it will stimulate you for further work; if you drink it in the afternoon ,it will relax you for further thought
Слайд 10ABC of Table manners
You must lay sugar in the tea
carefully.
You must eat the pie with the help of spoon
but not hands.
You mustn’t tap the spoon for a cup stirring tea.
Drinking tea speak only about pleasant things.
Слайд 11The teaspoon should never be left in the teacup.
Tea should
always be sipped sweetly with elegance to show good manners.
Tea
sandwiches and treats should be eaten in delicate bites. Remember to smile and chat between bites.
One's fingers are placed to the front and back of the handle with the pinkie finger tilted slightly up for balance. It is rude to loop fingers through the handle or to hold the body of the cup with the palm of the hand.
Слайд 12Tea ceremony
The English most of all prefer black and green
tea .In cold weather they like to drink tea with
milk . Milk helps to determine the quality of tea .Add some milk to the tea .If the colour is red or orange it’s a good tea .But if the colour is grey its bad tea.Sometimes they drink tea with lemon.
Слайд 13There are several blends of English tea including Earl Grey,

Read this
my dears, and you will see
how to make a nice
cup of tea
Take teapot to kettle, not other way round
and when you hear that whistling sound
pour a little in the pot
Just make it nice and hot.
Pour that out and put in the tea,
loose or in bags, your choice, you see.
One bag for each two cups will do
with one extra bag to make a fine brew.
Steep 3-5 minutes then pour a cup.
Then sit right down and drink it up!
