middle part of the temperate zone, is moderately continental with
cold long winters and warm relatively short summers

The animal world of the Nizhny Novgorod region is also
wide and diverse. A considerable number of representatives of different
species live here . In the woods and places located far away from human inhabited by brown bears, lynx, wolves and foxes. There are also moles, hares and squirrels, hedgehogs, muskrats and shrews.
