The USA got this Statue in 1884 from France. It was a birthday present! The Statue was built in France and transported by ships to the USA.

It was a birthday present! The Statue was built in

France and transported by ships to the USA.
The Statue is located on the Liberty Island. Seven spikes of the crown symbolize seven continents ( North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Antarctica, Australia). In her left hand she is holding a tablet with the date July 4, 1776 ( the date of the independence from England.)
In her right hand there is a torch which represents liberty.

It is a famous American landmark in the Black

Hills of South Dakota. It is a sculpture. There are

carvings of four faces of four American Presidents. Beginning in 1925, an American sculpter Gutzon Borglum began to carve the four Presidents. The project took sixteen years to complete. Borglum decided to sculpt George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson to represent the first 150 years of American history. All of the faces are sixty feet high, that is eighteen metres. Washington’s nose is six and a half metres long and his mouth is 5 metres wide.
