Philippe Starck
Слайд 2Philippe Starck is the most famous Frenchman in the world
of modern industrial design and architecture.
Слайд 3His witty statements instantly become aphorisms and inspire novice designers.
He lives in seclusion on his own island, creates for
the world's leading brands and periodically makes creative revolutions. He has extensive experience in almost all areas of design and architecture. And whatever stark does, everything turns out to be stylish, functional, and with a touch of irony.
Слайд 4Little Philippe, born in Paris in 1949, was immersed in
the atmosphere of design and art since childhood: his father
worked as an aircraft designer, and his mother was an artist. This had a strong influence on the further formation of Starck creative path.
Watching his father work, he mastered drawing tools and learned to create new ones from old things. Philip spent a lot of time disassembling bicycles and motorcycles into their component parts to understand how they are arranged and how they function. Later, the young man made new, unusual items from the received parts.
Слайд 5After graduating from the Camondo school of Paris with a
degree in interior Design in 1968, Philippe organized his first
design firm, which specializes in the design and production of inflatable objects and furniture.
In 1969, Philip designed an inflatable house similar to the Khan room. At Le Salon de l'enfance, the design was a great success. Then they started talking about Stark as a young and promising innovator.
Слайд 6In 1975, Stark decided to become an independent designer and
immediately distinguished himself with two successful projects: the interiors of
the bar La Main Bleue in Montreuil (1976) and the legendary Parisian night club Les Bains (1978) in Dallas. Philip received great inspiration for his work after a two-year journey around the world..
Returning to his homeland in 1977, he opened the design firm "Stark Products", designing from household items, dishes to large-scale interiors and urban ensembles. In the late 70s, the name of stark became known to many. He began to collaborate with famous design brands: Kartell, Driade, Vitra, Drimmer, Alessi, Disform, etc.
Слайд 7Starck work is characterized by eclectic ingenuity, a passion for
democratic concepts, and a respect for history and ecology. Philip
admits that he is constantly influenced by current fashion, including toys and new gadgets. But no less important for its inspiration are the impressions from numerous trips.
Слайд 8He loves eclecticism and can safely mix Japanese brevity with
Italian futurism. At the same time, the designer does not
strive for exclusivity and elitism. Its goal is to make the design as democratic and functional as possible: "an object must be useful before it can be beautiful.“
Слайд 9Natural, streamlined and anthropomorphic forms are the key dominants of
stark's creative thinking. He is not a fan of intense
decor and glamour. His work is simple and minimalistic, but it also has an incredible depth of meaning and philosophy: "everything I do is symbolic, and everything has meaning."
Слайд 10Philip is a big fan of Salvador Dali and always
puts a bright note of surrealism and irony in his
creations. Games with materials and form noticeably predominate over the color palette. One of the designer's favorites is yellow. Stark is convinced that this Sunny shade can work wonders, filling the space with particles of happiness.
Слайд 11Since 1984, stark has been actively engaged in object design
and devotes most of his time to it, designing home
accessories, tableware, furniture, baths, decorative items, etc. Many of his works are on display in art and design museums in the United States, England, and France. Among the designer's most famous creations is the world's first transparent polycarbonate chair, Louis Ghost for Kartell (2000). It became the best-selling designer chair in the world.
Слайд 12Philip was the first designer of a computer optical mouse
for Microsoft. It has a stylish streamlined shape, smooth silver
surface with illumination. Another hit of stark was a series of lamps Flos Guns with a stand in the form of a Golden machine gun or pistol. Critics immediately noted the political nature of this work.
Слайд 13His work is recognized and highly appreciated by both the
international professional community and a huge number of consumers –
from the wealthiest strata of society to ordinary people. Things from stark are recognizable, attractive and loved. Its design is super-technological, inventive, witty, and ironic. Philippe Starck "playing" at things. "My job is to try to clean up the world and make life better.
