There are 4 types of normal physiological bite:

Orthognathia,or orthognathics;
• progeny;
• Biprognathia;
• Orthogeny (direct or forcipate bite).

There are

6 types of pathological bite:
• Opisthodontia (mesial bite) - a significant degree of progeny;
• Stegodontia (distal bite) - a significant degree of prognathy;
• Hyatodontics (open bite);
Closed (deep) bite;
• Cross (lateral) bite;
• Dystopia (oblique bite).

Dental plates include 3 basic elements:
• a special plastic

or a silicone base, that is flexible but solid. They

produce transparent, colored overlays or with a bright pattern;
• a metal arc that is fixed on the teeth. Due to the force of the wire, a correction occurs;
• a key that starts the plate to work. The mechanism is hidden inside the structure.
This is a simple type of apparatus. If the defect is more serious, additional elements are used to enhance the correction effect – metal hooks. The more complicated the design of teeth plate shape is, the higher the price occurs.

installation:
• A quick and easy way to solve orthodontic problems

in childhood. It’s put veneers in adults - the gap between the teeth has disappeared. In a child, by wearing the apparatus, the diastema is eliminated in a few months, but naturally and forever ;;
• comfortable use. An orthodontic plate is a removable design that can be removed by an adult or a child. This facilitates the care of teeth and apparatus, especially in young children;
• are made in 1-2 weeks. For comparison, the creation of braces takes up to 4 weeks;
• easy care: the arc with the base is removed and washed under running water - a procedure that even a child can handle;
• the materials of which the constructions are made does not cause irritation, is non-toxic and harmless to the health of a small patient;
• reasonable cost. For plates for teeth, the price is on average 2 times lower than for the most budgetary braces.
Like every method, there were some minuses here. True, they are many times less in comparison with the benefits:
• plates cannot fix serious otodontic anomalies;
• parental control is required. The effect will be if you wear designs daily for 22 hours.

Braces (in English from bracket “bracket”), orthodontic braces are complex

orthodontic fixed structures (apparatuses) for correcting the position of human

teeth in case of malocclusion and unevenness of the dentition.

1. E-arch
The orthodontic appliance consisted of

rings on large molars, a rigid orthodontic arch with a

thread at the ends and nuts that were twisted to expand the perimeter of this arch, and teeth were tied to it with wire. The e-arch could only tilt the teeth, but it could not ensure the accuracy of each tooth

2. Pin and tube
To solve the problem of accuracy in tooth arrangement, Angle began to install rings on the remaining teeth in addition to the first large molars, and tubes with pins were soldered to each ring. All this gave additional rigidity to the orthodontic system. Due to the twisting of the pins, the orthodontist could adjust the position of each tooth.

In the next modification of the orthodontic appliance,

Angle replaced each vertical tube with a rectangular groove. A

rectangular orthodontic arch in the form of a ribbon of gold wire was installed in these grooves and secured with pins. Due to these changes, the Angle orthodontic apparatus has become more effective for aligning displaced teeth, and therefore has gained great popularity. However, the weak point of this technique was poor root position control.

4. Edgewise Technique
It was the Edgewise technique that became the first bracket system the prototype for all modern bracket systems, since it is the horizontal arrangement of the orthodontic arch in relation to the external surfaces of the teeth that is their design feature that allows achieving good control of the position of the teeth.

Слайд 19The types of braces according to their placement on teeth
The

braces located on the visible external part of the tooth

are called vestibular. When using this type of braces, there is no negative effect on the teeth. To attach the structure to the surface of the teeth, a special orthodontic material is used.

For many patients, the aesthetic side of the issue is of great importance: they are interested in installing the system in such a way that it is not visible. The problem is solved using lingual (internal) bracket systems, their fixation is made from the inside of the teeth and those around them cannot see

Слайд 20Types of braces by method of the fixation
The ligature system

consists of a metal arc, braces proper and the connecting

individual elements. The effectiveness of classical models is based on the ligature - an element of the bracket system, which is a thin metal wire.
The ligatureless system. Its principle of operation is the absence of fastening elements due to the special structure of the bracket itself. On it there are locks convenient for the dentist fixing the metal arch in grooves.
