Слайд 3        Stonehenge

This prehistoric monument is situated in Wiltshire, southern England. I think there is

no place like Stonehenge – an ancient monument, that has

been dated to about 3000 B.C.
Archaeologists can’t explain exactly who and why has built it. 30 standing stones (4.1 metres high, 2.1 metres wide each) form a big circle. Some experts suppose that the earliest phase of Stonehenge –blue stones were raised between 2400 and 2200 BC.  And they were brought from Wales.

Слайд 4Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is a site of

remarkable variety and beauty on the north-east coast of Australia.

It contains the world’s largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc. It also holds great scientific interest as the habitat of species such as the dugong (‘sea cow’) and the large green turtle, which are threatened with extinction.
As the world’s most extensive coral reef ecosystem, the Great Barrier Reef is a globally outstanding and significant entity. Practically the entire ecosystem was inscribed as World Heritage in 1981

Слайд 5Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks
The contiguous national parks of Banff, Jasper,

Kootenay and Yoho, as well as the Mount Robson, Mount

Assiniboine and Hamber provincial parks, studded with mountain peaks, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons and limestone caves, form a striking mountain landscape. The Burgess Shale fossil site, well known for its fossil remains of soft-bodied marine animals, is also found there.

Слайд 6     Keoladeo National Park
This former duck-hunting reserve of the

Maharajas is one of the major wintering areas for large

numbers of aquatic birds from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, China and Siberia. Some 364 species of birds, including the rare Siberian crane, have been recorded in the park.

Слайд 7Blue and John Crow Mountains

The site encompasses

a rugged and extensively forested mountainous region in the south-east

of Jamaica, which provided refuge first for the indigenous Tainos fleeing slavery and then for Maroons (former enslaved peoples).
The cultural and natural heritage of the Blue and John Crow Mountains comprises 26,252 ha of tropical, montane rainforest within the larger Blue Mountain and John Crow Mountain ranges, located in the eastern part of Jamaica in the Caribbean.

Heard and McDonald Islands
Heard Island and McDonald Islands are located

in the Southern Ocean, approximately 1,700 km from the Antarctic

continent and 4,100 km south-west of Perth. As the only volcanically active subantarctic islands they ‘open a window into the earth’, thus providing the opportunity to observe ongoing geomorphic processes and glacial dynamics. The distinctive conservation value of Heard and McDonald – one of the world’s rare pristine island ecosystems – lies in the complete absence of alien plants and animals, as well as human impact.
