manuscript most often means sending the manuscript to another journal,
sometimes arguing with the reviewer(s) may occur useful. This concerns mostly the case when the opinions of the referees differ from each other.
Vague requirements such as “the paper has to be completely rewritten” or “these remarks are just examples, the manuscript is full of similar mistakes” – remind the reviewer your obligation to precisely follow the reviewer’s remarks.
Requirement to study more – counterattack from the ethical positions: there is always something to do more and better – the reviewer is supposed to judge the achieved result’s reliability and significance, not extorting additional data to quench curiosity.
Scarce data – prove reliability seen from repetitive experiments.
