It has been suggested that the headmaster, Alfred Dunn, became the prototype of the headmaster of Harry Potter-Albus Dumbledore.In childhood, Rowling often wrote fantasy stories that she usually read to her sister. When she was a teenager, her great-aunt gave her a very old edition of Jessica Mitford's autobiography. Mitford became a heroine for Rowling, and she read all of her books.

Rowling was in high school Vidin, where her mother worked in the science Department. As Rowling said: "Hermione with the know-it-all character is based on me.» She had a difficult home life; her mother was ill, and Rowling had a difficult relationship with her father. Rowling was the head girl at the school. Before going to University, she studied English, French and German, passing exams for two excellent grades and one good.
